energy efficient techniques:
To really understand how some daylight or energy efficient techniques work, we created a small physical model of a house with each technique. Some examples of these techniques are; solar tubes, clerestory windows, picture windows, skylights, etc.
To start out actual design, we went in steps. First, the shape of the house, then dimensions, number of rooms, etc. This allowed us to design our house in an orderly manner. Once we sketched all the details of the house, we cut out each piece a wall at a time. So we could easily fit the pieces together and glue them.

Over the whole time we were building, we tweaked our model many times. For example, we in the end changed the number of rooms we hoped to incorporate into our design to a more realistic one. This was smarter and in the end a lot easier to construct.

below are some pictures of our finished product:
High points of project:
Results- In the end our model was accurate enough to tell us which technique is most efficient. We could tell that a skylight is more efficient than a clerestory window. This helps us out later on for another project as well.
Purpose- When we finished, our model looked very nice. you could see each energy efficient technique, how it was used, and how successful it was.

low points of project:
Workload- A couple of members of our group always would talk to other groups or play on their phone when they should be working. This resulted in the other two members left to take up the extra work, which is not fair.
Quality- Due to workload being so uneven some tasks that needed to be done carefully had to be done quicker. Resulting in more sloppy work. We also had this problem when a member of the group wouldn't take the time and effort to slowly and carefully work through some tasks. Which again results in sloppy work.
